Antisemitic Calumny: “Dual Loyalty”
“In reality it is an accusation that Jews are treasonous in their political orientation.”[1][1] Goldhagen, Daniel Jonah. The Devil That Never Dies (pp. 265-266). Little, Brown and Company. Kindle Edition.
“A majority of people in 51 of 102 countries and territories surveyed say it is probably true that Jews are more loyal to Israel than to their own country/the countries they live in.”[2][2] https://global100.adl.org/did-you-know
From the ADL survey of 2019: “ Jewish ‘disloyalty’ is a widespread anti-Semitic stereotype in the Western European countries surveyed. In Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, and Spain, more than 40% of the public believes that Jews are more loyal to the State of Israel than to their own country. This canard also scored high in Brazil (70%), South Africa (60%), and relatively high in Canada (25%) compared to its overall index score of 8%.”[3][3] https://www.adl.org/news/press-releases/adl-global-survey-of-18-countries-finds-hardcore-anti-semitic-attitudes-remain
As explained by Prof. Daniel Goldhagen: “The survey question itself reflects an antisemitic charge of treason that is repeatedly aired, a suspicion that floats about the countries of Europe and elsewhere, an accusation that was once one of the central ones leveled at Jews during the heyday of modern antisemitism in the nineteenth and first half of the twentieth centuries” … “In reality it is an accusation that Jews are treasonous in their political orientation. … Today, this dimension is tapped by the survey question, Are ‘Jews more loyal to Israel than to their own country’… All in all, 55% of Europeans, on the order of 275 million people (not including Ukrainians and Russians), think that the two one-thousandths of 1 percent of the populace of Europe that are Jews are disloyal. How could anyone even care enough about such a tiny and insignificant minority to have given this topic a second’s thought, let alone not to have dismissed the topic as utterly trivial, not worthy of being cared about, let alone in light of the Holocaust—which was grounded in, among many other antisemitic notions, precisely this one, namely that Jews are disloyal aliens—not be grossly offended by this grotesque question?”[4][4] Goldhagen, Daniel Jonah. “Globalized antisemitism is a thriving international enterprise that transverses cultures and civilizations. You can help us fight the this most enduring, pervasive, and lethal mode of hatred.”
